so while project #1 is on a brief hiatus, project #2 got a little facelift. i saw some super cool chalkboards made from old vintage frames on design sponge a little while back and decided to do something similar. found this little ditty at the thrift store

removed the print, gave the frame a new shade of yellow and added a piece of sheet metal sprayed with chalkboard paint. now it resides in our laundry room right as you come in from the garage. a nice cheery welcome and a fun place for love notes. loving it!

  1. Love it !! And, love you got the drawers to go under your washer/dryer. We have the white Maytag front loaders and couldn’t get the pedestal drawers because I also have white cabinets above and they wouldn’t fit by just a few inches 🙁 Anyways, love the chalkboard idea !

  4. i am going through some nesting as well…even though i am not pregnant. i am refinishing a dresser and a hutch as well, hopefully it won’t be too hard. i love the chalkboard idea, i might have to steal that, i have a lot of blank walls around here.

  6. rebecca…i sprayed the frame with a coat of primer before i used the color. don’t know if you already tried that but so far i haven’t had any problems. hope that helps!!
