for an egg.
this year ella was perplexed as to why anyone in their right mind would prefer a real egg over one filled with candy.
it was a question i couldn't answer. 🙂

it’s no secret that our favorite thing to do as family is pack up last minute and hit the road to california. there is so much drawing us there…the surf, the happiest place on earth, the sunshine, but most of all our dearest friends in the whole wide world.
this one is for you. sending love your way until next time!
new baby love.
it's hard to explain in words.
but you know it when you see it. or better yet, feel it. it's a feeling only a baby can bring to a family.
so glad i could spend some time with a long-time friend and her family. congratulations shauna. love you!
before i go any further, let me give a huge disclaimer…i realize this is a little much for a birthday party. but truth be told, it was so much fun for me that, well, i figured it was a party for both of us. i don't remember having very many birthday parties when i was younger. in fact, i only remember one. the year i turned 5 i had a strawberry shortcake party. the details are still vivid in my mind. i loved everything about it.
so when ella told me she wanted a strawberry shortcake party for her 5th birthday, you can imagine i was all about it. most of all, i wanted her to remember it like i remember mine. you don't need to have a ton of birthday parties…just one or two that make childhood magical.
and that is exactly what it felt like for her. and me.
Are we there yet?
How close are we?
Is it much longer, mom?
How many more minutes?
Stop singing dad!
Just a few of the phrases on shuffle, mixed in with a few high pitched screams from the backseat.
Love it.
(a greenish photo from jeff's cell phone in honor of st. patty's and a very cute birthday girl)
an almost 5-year-old had her very first birthday party today.
i loved every minute of it. now i'm pooped.
can't wait to share the details!
what a day for a wedding.
the sky was the perfect shade of blue, dotted with fluffy clouds. a gentle breeze was blowing. as we walked down the stairs towards our seats, it seemed for a moment that i was in a story book romance. exquisite.
jeff's friend and co-worker was married last week. the details were amazing. such a treat to be part of it. and it makes for a great date night! maybe we should take up wedding crashing. 😉
oh no, not you. of course not you.
but this nasty cold bug that has held us captive for weeks. and now it's starting up round two.
i thought we were on the tail end, then last night i heard a dog barking down the hall. oh wait. that's my child.
slowly it got louder. louder. until i knew it was time for the vaporizer to relocate. it's been getting quite the work out. yes it has. so much so that it even set off our smoke alarm. now that was quite the night.
really though, it is time for this thing to move on. pretty please with a cough drop on top?
last month i had the opportunity to photograph a wedding reception right before valentine's day. it was really quite fun because i've had a thing for wedding blogs like style me pretty and photographers like jasmine star for quite a while now. i don't really know why though. but sometimes, just sometimes, i wish i could do it all over again and have all that really pretty dreamy wedding stuff. and then i come back to earth and realize i had the best wedding ever. a spanish fiesta? absolutely perfect!
just for fun here's a little peek at the valentines.
and as luck would have it, we have been invited to another really pretty dreamy wedding this weekend. i'm so excited. you can bet my camera is coming along for the ride!
where have you gone?
mostly to doctor's appointments. with a few other things smashed in between.
like that one day for valentines
and a day for a wedding
and another few days for family fun
but mainly just doctor's appointments. for this little guy and everyone else.
i'm amazed at how much his head shape is changing already. he's a super trooper.
and with that…off to another appointment. good times. good times.
