the trip to california for thanksgiving was just the ticket. a perfect time to give thanks for many things. for our family–we met up with my mom and dad for the week. for our friends–we hooked up with some of our dear, lifelong friends. and for fun–disneyland, the beach, all things that i truly love and miss about cali. it was a fabulous week and i really can’t wait to go back for more.

a little over a month ago i was at the mall and decided to browse the perfume counter. it has been many moons since i actually purchased a bottle. mostly because of the expense and i don’t really use it that often. and because it seems to take forever before it’s gone. and i’d probably never use it all before i got tired of it.
so after smelling around i decided to buy lotion instead. it seemed like a good compromise. or so i thought.
last week jeff and i went on a date. the first one in quite a while. of course, i felt like sprucing up a little. so i pulled out the lotion and slathered a little on.
as we were driving down the street. jeff starts sniffing.
“do you smell that?” he says. “something smells like bug repellant.”
(and it shall probably be many more moons before i again frequent the perfume counter.) 😉
drat! it’s going to be a tough week around here. it is time to make some changes with the little man’s sleeping habits or lack thereof. i’ve pretty much let him dictate things so i could hang on to my sanity, but in reality that hasn’t really helped. i was religious about babywise with dallin. with ella, she just likes her sleep so we’ve never had problems there. but with lincoln…well…his gassiness/fussiness means he sleeps about 15-30 minutes at a time and only while i’m holding him. not good. and nighttime isn’t that great either.
so, this mama is trying to buckle down and create a schedule. sometimes that word makes me shudder. i’ve never been good at schedules. i love them, yet my nature is such that if i can’t stick too it i’d rather not even have one. then i won’t feel like i’ve failed at something. how dumb is that? stinking weaknesses. 😉
so wish me luck. or sleep. or tough skin. or something like that.

heading out this afternoon to my happy place!!!!
the annual passes are still good so we have to take advantage! i simply can’t wait…especially to enjoy all the christmas decor. no matter how many times we’ve been i am still giddy the moment i step off that tram. i feel like a kid every single time. magic. yes, they still know how to create the magic.
the best part is this. the kids have no idea we’re going. i’m picking up dallin from school today and we’re off. ah, i love surprises!

ok, forgive me for the continued “bathroom” humor. but i had to write this down.
today.
i’m standing in the kitchen while ella is sitting at the counter. i passed wind (yes, i do this occassionally) 😉 and ella looks at me and says, “was dat you mom?”
and i said sheepishly “yes, ella that was me.”
then she looks at me and replies, “hah, das classic! dat shuw was.”
this little girl is older than she appears. 🙂
amy….i have found a new market for you to explore.

i’ve said it a million times. fall is my favorite season.
our trip to utah hit the spot perfectly. a stroll around byu. a drive up to sundance. color bursting at the seams. i loved it!

and this was a little treasure i saw while at dallin’s farm field trip. it was screaming for me to take a picture of it. 🙂
this year our ward’s halloween party was a carnival of sorts. each family could set up a booth with your own game and prizes. so my wheels started turning about something fun we could throw together. first thing was figuring out costumes. we decided to revive our napoleon and deb prom stuff from three years ago. i didn’t take any photos of us this year but i will refer you to this 2005 pic just to set the scene.
next was figuring out the game. (and i think you’ll get a kick out of this, jamie!) we decided to keep the napoleon gig going and create a "flippin’ sweet tots toss."
what’s that you ask? well, here’s what you do…
step up to the line and see if you can throw a frozen tot into napoleon’s, deb’s, or pedro’s mouth. make it in and you walk away with a piece of candy. lucky!
i must say it was quite the hit of the party but i think i had the most fun. i’m a total sucker for this kind of stuff. can you tell? 😉
