Some people were meant to have nice legs.

I did not make that list.

Disclaimer: today’s post is completely superficial and vain (or better said, all about my superficial veins). Sometimes the natural woman just needs to laugh a little. 😉

Here’s the run down.
First, leg one: suffering from the remnant blood clot and post phlebitic syndrome—meaning it is and always will be swollen, reddish purple, and strangely larger than my other leg.
Next, leg two: recently acquired a lovely, bulging, bluish varicose vein spanning 15 inches in length [yes, I measured :)] and resembling a garden hose that has been surgically implanted for leg irrigation. That accompanied by a spattering of spider veins having the appearance of a complex LA roadmap just in case I get lost.
Last, both legs: sporting numerous bruises and sites from daily injections of blood thinner. Which may leave you thinking that I’m a drug addict.

As Esqueleto would say, “I look hideous!”

The great news about all this? The glorious beauty of a backyard pool giving this woman complete privacy to keep these bruised, battered, and unsightly legs all to myself. Can there be such a wonderful feeling as getting into a swimsuit in virtual seclusion?

Just makes me want to break out in song, ya know?

  1. Is that your swimming pool in the picture??? That is beautiful!! That would make anybody break out in song!!

  2. oh how i feel your pain. as i shaved my not so lovely, one week to go pregnant legs this morning i had to navigate the bulgy blue veins that have overtaken my knee caps and admire the rather large splotches of spider veins that i didn’t notice til today! makes me wonder what else i’ll find when the belly is gone…frightening!

  3. Oh, girlfriend…don’t even get me started on my legs! Why should a womans LEGS be traumatized from pregnancy and childbirth? It’s just not right. However, with that glorious backyard pool, you shouldn’t have much to complain about this summer! Although, being pregnant during the summer in AZ isn’t so glorious! Here’s to garden hoses and complex road maps and the treasures they bring! ;0)
